Grading (U6 through U16)

To ensure that everyone enjoys their season and is playing in an appropriate competition, Bangor FC grades junior players and teams at the beginning of each season. We ask that you make attending grading a priority to ensure the best outcome for all involved. If you are unable to attend grading it is important that you contact the Technical Team (technical.director@bangorbrumbies.org.au) beforehand otherwise you may not be allocated to a team.

Things to know:

  • You must have registered and paid to participate in grading
  • Shin pads must be worn
  • Bring a hat, sunscreen and water bottle

Please check the grading times for your age group. Keep an eye on your email and our socials for more information.

U6 & U7 Grading

Bangor FC will endeavor to allocate friends to the same team however concessions may need to be made depending on the total number of registered players and individual skill level. The Club’s experience is that players enjoy their football more if playing in a grade that matches their ability.

U8 through U16 Grading

Bangor FC will attempt to keep teams from the previous year together where practical, however there is no guarantee that this will be possible as it depends on the total number of registered players and consideration of each individual’s skill level.

Grading Assistance

Bangor FC are looking for help from last year’s coaches and any players in the U14 or above to assist with running drills and games on Grading Day (Saturday 3rd February and Sunday 4th February) If you are interested please contact the Technical Team (technical.director@bangorbrumbies.org.au).

Playing Up an Age Group

In accordance with the SSFA Rules, players may play in an age group up to two years older than they are turning that year if there is a valid reason. Please speak to our Technical Team on Grading day if you would like to be considered for an older age group.

Please note: Registration fees are non-refundable once the grading process is complete and players have been allocated to teams. Any dispute will be reviewed by the Bangor Football Club Executive Committee.

Submission of Teams (U18, U21 and Seniors)

Coaches or managers of U18, U21 and Senior teams must submit their team list to the registrar by 6pm on Saturday 24th February. Please email the following information to registrar@bangorbrumbies.org.au

  • List of players: First Name, Last Name and FFA Number (if known)
  • Team’s preferred training night, time and location
  • Team’s preferred grade
  • Current contact details of Coach and Manager including email address and phone number

Teams

U6 through U11 (MiniRoo)

These age groups follow MiniRoos rules and play in mixed or all-girls divisions. SSFA recommends having 6–7 players in U6 and U7 teams, 9–11 players in the U8 and U9 teams, and 11-13 players for U10 and U11 teams.

Games are played on Saturdays on a home and away schedule. Our home ground is Billa Oval with away games are played at opposition fields around the Shire. Training is on weeknights at Billa Oval.

Learn more about Miniroos for U6–U11

U12 through U21 (Junior)

These age groups follow the SSFA rules. There are separate men’s and women’s competitions, however U12 can still be mixed. SSFA recommends having 14 players per team, more in the older age groups.

Games are played on Saturdays, with the exception of the women’s U21 age group which plays on Sundays.

Our home ground is The Ridge Playing Fields with away games are played at opposition fields around the Shire.

Training is on weeknights at either Billa Oval or The Ridge.

All Age Men, Senior Women, Over 35 and Over 45

Bangor FC have a number of senior teams that return each year. If you are new to the club and would like to join a senior team then please speak to the coach or manager (if known) or email the registrar (registrar@bangorbrumbies.org.au) to find a team.

Senior teams follow the SSFA rules and play in separate men’s and women’s competitions. Games are played on Sundays. Our home ground is The Ridge Playing Fields with away games are played at oppositions fields around the Shire. Training is on weeknights at The Ridge.

Coaches and Managers

All teams require a volunteer coach and manager who is typically appointed on Grading Day. Coaches and Managers of teams with players under the age of 18 are required to obtain a free volunteer Working With Children check.

Coaches and Managers will also be required to register (for free!) in PlayFootball to allow us to assign you to your team and ensure you are getting the correct correspondence from the club.

There will be two Coaches and Managers meetings on Monday evenings during the season at Club Menai to provide important information for the season.

If you are a Junior player aged 14 or older and would like to be involved in coaching a MiniRoo team please contact the Technical Team (technical.director@bangorbrumbies.org.au) prior to Grading Day.

Ground Duty

Every team at Bangor FC is required to participate in Ground Duty at least twice a year. Ground Duty consists of field set up and pack down duty, ground control (field monitoring during games) and BBQ duty.

By sharing the duties equally amongst your team, each individual will only need to give up a couple of hours of time during the season, but those couple of hours mean everyone at the club can get out and play football that weekend.

Information on the specific duties and the roster will be sent to coaches and managers during the season.

Uniforms & Equipment

All players are required to purchase their own shorts and socks. These items are available from the Billa canteen on Open Day, Grading Day and Equipment Collection days and from both the Billa and Ridge canteens on weekends during the season. Players will also need their own soccer boots and shin pads which must be worn during training and games.

All coaches/managers will receive a team kit prior to the start of the season which will include soccer balls, bibs and cones. Other training equipment is available on request.

U6 through to U21 teams will also receive playing shirts in their team kits. These shirts must be returned at the end of the season.

All senior team members are required to purchase their own shirt. Please make note of the other shirt numbers in your team before buying a shirt. Shirts are available at the Billa canteen on the aforementioned days.

Supporter Apparel

Bangor FC has a range of supporter apparel available at our Billa and Ridge canteens.

Prices — please see our Uniform and Apparel page for latest prices.

Referees

MiniRoo Referees

MiniRoo games played at Billa Oval are refereed by Junior members of our club. Referees earn between $10 and $20 per game. If you are turning 13 or older during the season and are interested in becoming a MiniRoo Referee please send an email to miniroo_coordinator@bangorbrumbies.org.au with your name and age group. Please note that there are a limited number of positions available and preference will be given to returning referees.

SSFRA Referees

Junior and Senior games are refereed by “Black and White” referees by the Sutherland Shire Football Referees Association (SSFRA). If you are interested in refereeing please see the SSFRA website.

Club Standby Referees

When the SSFRA is unable to cover all of our games at The Ridge we need people to step in and help out. All club referees will be paid for the games they cover — $25 for U12 to U16 games, $40 for U18 and above games.

If you are interested in refereeing the odd game here or there please contact secretary@bangorbrumbies.org.au with your name, contact details and previous refereeing experience.

Training Academy

The Bangor FC Training Academy is run exclusively for Bangor FC players by highly experienced, professional coaches and focuses on skill acquisition and development. Academy is run on a weeknight and is separate to your team’s training. Space is limited so keep an eye out on the website and our socials for registration information.

Bangor FC is run by a committee of volunteers. If you are interested in getting involved or helping out on a casual basis please contact secretary@bangorbrumbies.org.au or speak to one of our committee members.
